What type of drug is zoton?
Zoton FasTabs contains lansoprazole, which is a type of medicine called a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It works by decreasing the amount of acid the stomach makes, to give relief from the symptoms of excessive acid and allow healing to take place. This does not stop food being digested in the normal way.
Is zoton the same as Nexium?
Proton pump inhibitors (known in Australia by names such as Nexium, Pariet, Losec, Somac and Zoton) work by preventing key pumps in the cells of the stomach that produce stomach acid from working.
Can you drink alcohol with zoton?
Yes, you can drink alcohol with lansoprazole. However, drinking alcohol makes your stomach produce more acid than normal. This can irritate your stomach lining and make your symptoms worse.
Can you take zoton twice a day?
For optimal effect, Zoton FasTab should be taken once daily in the morning, except when used for H. pylori eradication when treatment should be twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. Zoton FasTab should be taken at least 30 minutes before food (see section 5.2).
Can you take zoton long term?
Your doctor may want you to keep taking Zoton FasTabs on a long-term basis to prevent the condition from coming back. Zoton FasTabs is recommended only for short-term use (8 to 12 weeks) in children. Tell your doctor if your symptoms return. You may need further treatment.
What are the side effects of zoton?
Side effects such as dizziness, vertigo, tiredness and visual disturbances sometimes occur in patients taking Zoton. If you experience side effects like these you should take caution as your ability to react may be decreased.
Why is Nexium bad for you?
Using Nexium for a long period of time may increase the risk of inflammation of the stomach lining, according to the FDA. At least one study showed long term use of Nexium and other PPIs could also increase the risk of death. The FDA warns that patients should never take Nexium 24HR for more than 14 days at a time.
Can zoton cause constipation?
